Designing for Miranda & Brian’s gorgeous wedding was a lovely experience. This couple was open to creative ideas and trusted us to carry out their vision. There is no greater honor to inspire us and wow them on their special day. The wedding took place at Charcoal Factory Lofts, which is known for it’s quintessential Chicagoan architecture: exposed bricks, concrete walls, preserved timber ceilings from the original factory design, and abundant greenery from ivy that covers the exterior of the building. This space is the perfect, intentionally blank canvas for florals, and the couple expressed a love for muted neutrals, texture, and organic design. Melding their vision with seasonal flowers and integrating our design inclinations was a seamless process. We sourced locally grown boneset, clematis vine, hydrangea, solidago greens, cosmos, and lisianthus. We created statement ceremony frame arrangements, a bar installation with a handmade natural armature out of curly willow branches, and a suspended design above their cake table that was filled with textural filler and fragrant stock flowers. It was a pleasure to design the bridal bouquet and boutonniere as well. The result was stunning, and a great reminder that a few picturesque floral moments can have an impactful visual presence! Our design team followed their intuition using the venue style as a guide. We were lucky enough to work with a couple that allowed us design freedom within the patterns and principles of the architecture. We loved seeing the snapshots of special moments from this wedding; when Miranda surprised Brian with an ice sculpture from Nate’s Ice, and their homage to their two cats with signature drinks.
